We were married in March of 2007 and patiently waited a year before starting the process of applying to the International Mission Board. We began applying in 2008, and not to long after, found out that Shiona was pregnant. So, we moved forward as much as possible, but we were told that we wouldn't be able to go to any conference until she was at least 4 months old. Evylin was born March 23rd, 2009 (31/2 weeks early), a healthy, happy baby. Again, we moved on with the process, still feeling led to serve God in Japan. That is when we found out that the IMB was going through a major restructure and putting many missionary appointments on hold due to the shortage from the 2008 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Conferences were canceled, dates were changed, and we were told that there is no way that we would be leaving in the spring like we had thought.
However, our God has not changed. His call remains the same. Japan is still less than .05 percent Christian. We are still waiting in faith, praying that many laborers, including us, will be able to go out to the harvest. We hope that you will join with us in prayer for Japan and for us as we continue down the path that Christ has prepared for us. Blessings to you all!
